A little history

Andrew Turner, Chef Patron

Andrew has worked in some amazing places, the award winning Ramson’s was one of his first. Ramson’s was richly honored in 2007 by being named the Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year. Andrew was also a Finalist of young chef of the year northwest 2008, he then traveled to London to work alongside celebrity chefs and Michelin star restaurants, Gordon Ramsey’s Maze amongst the many.

Andrew then travelled to France for a great opportunity to work as head chef at Courchevel’s Le dahu. After the Great experience of working in France he decided to return back to the UK and travel around to continue to learn and gather experience in a number of rosette and award-winning restaurants throughout England, wales & Scotland. Most recently The Famous Strawbury Duck in Entwistle

Now Andy has started his first venture as chef patron at The Goose & Gander joining the team is his old friend & Head Chef Abdulla Naseem.

Abdulla Naseem or Naz as he’s universally known has also forged a remarkable career across some of the North West’s best restaurants – Nutter’s, Ramson’s, Hearth of the Ram and most recently The Goose & Gander.

Naz made a massive impact at these establishments, so much so it brought him national recognition. Ramson’s along with Andy, as mentioned earlier was named Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year. They were presented with the award by Heston Blumenthal at a ceremony in the British Museum. Following that Naz won a Chef of the year gong in 2007 and Manchester Food and Drink Awards Restaurant of the Year in 2011.

The awards kept coming after Ramson’s with Naz at the helm. The Hearth of the Ram, won 2013 MFDF Food Pub of the Year, a Michelin Bib Gourmand and both it and Naz were shortlisted for the Awards in 2015.
Whichever establishment Naz brings his own distinctive techniques to bear. Truly, a chef of the world.

Together at The Goose & Gander

After a year in his native Maldives, Naz is now back in the Northwest to begin a new adventure with his old friend Andrew, combining their experience behind the stove at the Goose & Gander Country Kitchen & Bar where together the pair, will be serving Great British food, concentrating on seasonal & local produce.

In the Bar, they have an extensive list of Gin’s, cask ale’s, Cocktails and whisky’s. The bar has a cosy, roaring log burner which welcomes walkers, dogs, cyclist & horse riders to sit in front of and relax with friends.
